Week 5 Reflection

This week we learned how to evaluate the impact of social programs. When creating an organization to try to help with a social issue it is important to have a clear idea of what the issue is and what the goal the organization wants to achieve. By have a clear mission you also will find more people and companies that will want to invest their time and money in the cause too. A material that got my attention was the article "Getting Results: Outputs, Outcomes and Impact". In this article I learned that defining the results is also important so you know exactly what you are looking for. Our job is always look to cause a good impact in society, this means the results will be more long-lasting. The article "Starfish Hurling and Community Service" was pretty funny and educational. Usually we want to cause an impact in society but we forget to ask the right questions and understand if we are indeed helping or not. Maybe we feel the urge to help, but we do need to evaluate the situation and exactly what would be our part in it. What I want to do before setting new goals from now on is to write down some questions and understand what the goal is exactly and not just plan things randomly.
